American Institute of Medicine

Similarly to Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the UK research which concludes that oily fish may help prevent heart disease, the American Institute of Medicine’s review of the benefits and risks associated with seafood consumption (October 2006) presents a strong endorsement of the positive value of farmed fish in a healthy diet.

Seafood, as an important source of Omega 3 fatty acids, is associated with many benefits including reduced risk of heart disease. Farmed salmon and trout were shown to have some of the highest levels of the very best Omega 3s, EPA and DHA.
