The aquaculture industry in Shetland has experienced significant developments over the last few years. The industry has diversified into new species such as cod and halibut and is now represented by farmers of various species, not just salmon. Aquaculture has been described as the most significant new industry to emerge in the Highlands and Islands over the last 30 years.
