The Aquaculture industry is developing and expanding in almost all regions of the world, except in sub-Saharan Africa. Aquaculture appears to have the potential to make a significant world contribution to this increasing demand for aquatic foods; however, in order to realise this potential, the industry faces significant challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the aquaculture industry in British Columbia in Canada is the Society for the Positive Awareness of Aquaculture (SPAA). Established in 1998, this organisation aims to counter the “myths” and criticisms posed against the aquaculture industry.
